Sony PSN Being Restored

The Reuters News Agency stated today that Sony is beginning the process to restore the functionality of PSN.  The restoration will be on a geographical basis, and it will take two weeks, finishing around the end of May. Reuters also stated:

“In what is thought to be the biggest security breach of its kind, hackers accessed personal information on 77 million PlayStation Network and Qriocity accounts, 90 percent of which are in North America and Europe, and may have stolen credit card information.

“Hackers rented a server from Amazon for the attack, Bloomberg news said earlier in the day, citing a source with knowledge of the matter.”

It is not too surprising that it took this long to figure out what to fix, to fix it, and to stage a restoration.  If anything, it is impressive that it happened so fast, even if PSN users were in a state of deprivation.
